NAZCA LINES
Informacion General
Nazca lines, a name best known tourist attraction in the area are in the Pampas de Jumana, Nazca, Peru, and are composed of a set of zoomorphic, and geometric fitomorfas are engraved on the surface of desert plateaus.
ORIGIN OF THE NAZCA LINES
The first reference to these figures belong to the conqueror Cieza de Leon in 1547.
Maria Reiche mathematics influenced Paul Kosok hypothesized that these drawings had astronomical significance.
The first serious field study on these drawings is due after five seasons of fieldwork, the team Reindel and Isla These archaeologists have excavated and documented more than 650 sites and have managed to trace the history of the culture that created these drawings also give them a meaning.
The water supply played an important role in the region. The excavations have brought to light small cavities in the geoglyphs where religious offerings were found in agricultural products and animals, especially lions. The landscape drawings formed a ritual whose aim should be encouraging the invocation of the water. Also found stakes, cords and test figures. From these simple elements so they used the ancient Nazca people to draw pictures. Also remember that one of the driest areas of the world that favors the preservation of the drawings.
Up close, these lines become mere ruts in the ground. The geology of the Pampas not be necessary to foster more for a visible result. The surface is composed of a layer of pebbles of a dark reddish color caused by oxidation, which covers another of a light yellowish. The Nazca were limited to removing the upper stones along a path that had previously marked with stakes, connected by strings, from a small scale model and a dose of geometry. The stones removed were accumulated in small mounds that are still preserved. The working method has been completely reconstructed from the evidence gathered by archaeological expeditions.

The amazing thing is that these lines can only be observed in all its immensity from the air, flying over the desert. These lines are also witness to a large geometrical knowledge of the ancient Peruvians.
EXTENSION
Between Palpa and Nazca in the pampas of Socos are located lines drawn on the ground, whose width varies between 40 centimeters and 1.10 meters. It is a land between blackish, reddish purple at dusk turns. A semicircle of hills in the distance make a giant natural amphitheater open to the west.
In this region, thousands of lines spanning 520 km ², and some even extend to an area of 800 km ².
The lengths of the lines are variable, reaching up to 275 m to measure some long.

FIGURES
Numerous figures are in Nazca, particularly in the Pampa de San José: geometric shapes, bends, representing animals, plants and human, mazes, and other geometric designs.
The most representative are the drawings of animals: birds between 25 and 275 meters long (giant hummingbirds, condors, heron, crane, pelican, seagull, parrot, and others), a monkey, a spider, a snail , a lizard, a killer whale, 27 meters, a dog with long legs and tail, two llamas, etc.. In the category of reptiles, an alligator, which was cut to build the South Pan American Highway, an iguana and a snake. Many of the drawings are mixed with lines and spirals.
Almost all the drawings were done on flat surface, there are only a few in the hillsides. Almost all the figures that are situated on the slopes represent men. Some are topped by three or maybe four vertical lines represent the ceremonial headdress of feathers (some Peruvian mummies wore headdresses of gold and feathers).
Figures of the slopes are less defined than in the desert perhaps because stones that have rolled down the hillside have erased the details.
Anthropomorphic figure (which some identify with an astronaut of course). More than thirty geoglyphs today are found in the Pampas of Nazca. The drawings are less in number compared with the geometric designs that consist of hundreds and hundreds of lines, triangles and quadrangles that cover large areas of land. His technique was careful construction by the surveyors of the past took the hills and ravines lines without deviating from its original direction.
The depth of the lines never exceeds 30 cm and some are just scratching the surface, but can still be recognized when the sun is low and the relief is accentuated.
LAYOUT
Technically the Nazca lines are perfect. The lines contain a perfection with a few detours along miles. The drawings are well supplied, especially if we consider the size of their drawings.
Evaluated only from the air and some by GOOGLE EARTH
From the ground, these designs go unnoticed. These lines can only be observed in all its immensity from the air, flying over the desert at least two hundred feet high. This shows a large geometrical knowledge of the ancient Peruvians.
